17. Business — Hermes in Day-to-Day Office Work

If the previous chapters were about technical foundations (Skills, Integrations), this is where all of it comes together into practical value: an assistant that can handle email, meetings, CRM, reports, data, and documents — the tasks that take up most of an office worker’s time yet are repetitive enough to be worth automating.

The three technical pillars behind every Business use case

  1. Gateway platform (Email, Slack, Teams…) — where work “arrives” to the agent.
  2. Skill Google Workspace / MCP SaaS (Sheets, Docs, CRM via Composio…) — where the agent “touches” real data.
  3. Cron scheduler — where repetitive work (weekly reports, daily KPI rollups) runs without you pressing a button every time.

A line from the official documentation worth quoting: cron-based automation “flips the model” — instead of a human having to kick things off, the agent wakes itself up on schedule, works, and then goes back to sleep — the essence being that most of the most valuable office work does not come from events, but from time (daily reports, weekly rollups).
